Information you provide
When you email us or submit a form, we receive your name, email address, message, and any photograph you choose to share so we can respond or review your submission. Form submissions and uploaded photographs are retained for editorial review. Fan stories and photographs are selected by our editor and published only with your permission, with the name you provide as credit. Your email address is not published. Public account registration is disabled. WordPress stores profile information for administrator-created accounts; account holders and administrators can view and edit it, except that usernames cannot be changed.
Comments and cookies
Comments are disabled by default. Where an individual article allows comments, WordPress collects the submitted details, IP address, and browser information for spam detection. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely. An email-address hash may be sent to Gravatar to display an avatar; see Automattic’s privacy policy. Comments may also be checked by an automated spam-detection service.
If you choose to save your comment details, cookies retain them for one year. Login cookies support account access: the browser-test cookie lasts for the session, login cookies for two days (two weeks with “Remember Me”), and display-preference cookies for one year. Logging out removes login cookies. An editing cookie records the post ID for one day. Password-reset emails include the requesting IP address.
Images and embedded content
Images uploaded to the site may contain location metadata that visitors can download. Contributors should remove GPS metadata before uploading.
Embedded videos, images, or other content can allow the originating website to collect information, set cookies, and track interactions, including through an account you hold with that service. Those services have their own privacy policies.
Your information and requests
Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your correspondence, account, or comments. Some information may need to be retained for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Account-deletion requests should also be sent to the email above.
